Report: Warriors’ Green to miss ‘at least’ next two games with finger injury

The Golden State Warriors will reportedly be without Draymond Green for at least the next two games due to a torn ligament in his left finger, according to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater.

Slater went on to note that, according to Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr, the injury would not lead to a long-term absence for Green.

The injury occurred during the Warriors’ loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.

“It’s pretty sore,” Green told reporters after the game. “I couldn’t grip the ball the whole entire [game], probably since the second quarter, which is why I was making a lot of one-handed, right-handed passes and dribbling left with my right hand.”

Losing Green further hinders an already-depleted Warriors’ lineup that will be without the core of its championship days for the next few months.

Stephen Curry is sidelined for at least three months after having to repair a broken hand, while Klay Thompson may miss the entire season as he recovers from a torn ACL in his left knee.

In the short-term, Golden State is also without D’Angello Russell, accquired in the off-season following Kevin Durant’s departure, as he deals with a right ankle sprain.

Through five games so far this season, Green has averaged 9.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
