Argonauts, Stampeders betting favourites for CFL division finals

The Toronto Argonauts will be looking to claim their first Grey Cup berth in five years when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday in the Eastern Final as 2.5-point favourites on the CFL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Toronto closed out the regular-season schedule on a 5-2-0 straight-up (SU) run to take their first Eastern crown in four years and gain home-field advantage in Sunday afternoon’s Roughriders vs. Argonauts betting matchup at BMO Field.

The Argonauts stumbled out of the gate, failing to post consecutive SU victories during a 4-7-0 run that left them lagging as a +1000 Grey Cup wager following a 24-22 Labour Day loss in Hamilton as three-point chalk.

The Toronto offence, though, has found its groove since that defeat, averaging 32.9 points per game over its final seven contests, generating a 6-0-1 run for the OVER in totals betting. However, the Argonauts have been a betting disappointment on home turf, failing to cover in their past two outings and going 4-5-0 overall against the spread.

The Roughriders arrive in town with a swagger after handing Ottawa a decisive 31-20 loss as 2.5-point road underdogs in last weekend’s Eastern semifinal, marking their first post-season win since raising the Grey Cup four years ago.

Saskatchewan crossed over from the West to claim the final playoff spot in the East on the strength of a 10-8-0 record, and has emerged as a +333 wager to become the first crossover team to go on to win the Grey Cup. The Roughriders trail only the favoured Calgary Stampeders on the Grey Cup odds despite being pegged as betting underdogs this weekend against Toronto, where they are 9-4 SU and 10-3 against the spread in their past 13 visits.

Later on Sunday, the Stampeders play host to the Edmonton Eskimos in the Western Final as five-point betting favourites. Calgary led the CFL this season with a 13-4-1 record, but will need to rebound from a lacklustre 0-3-0 finish during which they averaged just 10.7 points per game.

Calgary remains atop the Grey Cup odds as -120 favourites, but still has a lot to prove after suffering a stunning 39-33 loss to the RedBlacks as 9.5-point chalk in last year’s Grey Cup.

The Eskimos extended their current SU win streak to six games with last weekend’s 39-32 victory in Winnipeg as three-point favourites, and topped Calgary 45-31 as three-point home chalk in their last playoff clash with the Stampeders in the 2015 Western FInal, but sit alongside Toronto back at +450 on the odds to win the Grey Cup.
