Argos not planning to start QB Drew Willy against Bombers

TORONTO — Drew Willy won’t be starting against his former team Saturday night.

The veteran quarterback joined the Toronto Argonauts on Monday after being acquired from Winnipeg the night before. The Argos visit the Bombers this weekend but head coach Scott Milanovich says Dan LeFevour will make a second straight start for the squad.

LeFevour led Toronto to a 33-21 home win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Monday night.

With incumbent Ricky Ray (rib) ailing, Toronto landed Willy from Winnipeg for defensive back T.J. Heath, a 2017 first-round pick and a 2018 third-round selection.

Wily, 29, was in his third season with Winnipeg and had completed 137-of-191 passes for 1,473 yards with five TDs and four interceptions. But he lost his job to Matt Nichols, who has guided the Bombers to six straight victories.
