NFL spokesman: Roger Goodell’s latest contract will be his last

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s latest contract extension will be his last, league spokesman Joe Lockhart told NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport.

Goodell signed a five-year, $200-million extension last week that keeps him in the commissioner role through the 2023 season. According to the Associated Press, Goodell’s new contract is incentive-laden with a base salary of $40 million.

Goodell, 58, succeeded Paul Tagliabue as NFL commissioner in 2006 and has seen the league’s revenue almost double since then.
