ECHL player receives 16-game suspension for role in brawl

The ECHL has suspended forward Emerson Clark of the Jacksonville IceMen 16 games for his role in a brawl during a game against the Fort Wayne Komets last week.

Fort Wayne’s Chase Stewart and Kyle Haas were both suspended for six games for fighting off the playing surface during the altercation.

Clark was being restrained by a linesman from going into the melee on Friday and was punished for a combination of his game misconduct for physical abuse of officials and being a repeat offender. He also received an undisclosed fine.

The 27-year-old Clark from Le Gardeur, Que., has played for a variety of AHL and ECHL teams since turning professional, including the AHL Toronto Marlies and ECHL Newfoundland Growlers last season.
