MONCTON, N.B. – Nikolaj Ehlers started off the second round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs in style on Friday night.
Ehlers had four goals and an assist as the Halifax Mooseheads routed the Moncton Wildcats 7-3 to take a 1-0 series lead.
The 2014 first-round selection of the Winnipeg Jets now has six goals and 14 assists in eight playoff games.
Danny Moynihan and Andrew Shewfelt also chipped in for Halifax while Philippe Gadoury scored once and added three assists.
Ivan Barbashev struck twice for the Wildcats, with Kyle Tibbo adding the other.
Eric Brassard made 34 saves for the win. Moncton’s Alex Dubeau turned aside 18-of-24 shots in 40:32 before being pulled. Jason Rioux went the rest of the way, stopping eight shots in 17:58.
The Mooseheads scored once on two power plays while the Wildcats went 0 for 5.
Game 2 takes place on Saturday in Moncton.

REMPARTS 7 ISLANDERS 2
QUEBEC — Vladimir Tkachev had a three-point night, including two goals, as the Remparts dominated Charlottetown in Game 1 of their second-round playoff matchup.
Adam Erne also struck twice for Quebec with Anthony Duclair, Ross MacDougall and Jerome Verrier rounding out the attack. Kurt Etchegary chipped in with three assists.
Filip Chlapik and Alexandre Goulet responded with goals for the Islanders in the third period.
Quebec hosts Game 2 on Sunday.

OLYMPIQUES 2 OCEANIC 1
RIMOUSKI, Que. — Tommy Veilleux scored his first of the post-season in the second period while on the power play as Gatineau took Game 1 of its second-round playoff series by edging the Oceanic.
Elie Berube opened the scoring 54 seconds into the first period for the Olympiques.
Christopher Clapperton also had a goal in the first for Rimouski, which hosts Game 2 on Saturday.

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Simon Chevrier scored the winner 41 seconds into double overtime as Baie-Comeau won Game 1 of its second-round playoff matchup by slipping past the Foreurs.
Jeremy Gregoire and Vaclav Karabacek had goals in regulation for the Drakkar.
Jan Mandat, shorthanded, and Simon Tremblay chipped in for Val-d’Or.
The Foreurs host Game 2 on Saturday.
