OHL Roundup: Tippett, Steelheads top Generals

OSHAWA, Ont. — Owen Tippett was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Mississauga Steelheads edged the Oshawa Generals 3-2 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Tippett also scored in regulation time for Mississauga (14-12-2), as did Jason Smith. Goaltender Jack Flinn made 37 saves through regulation and overtime before turning away all three skaters in the shootout.

Domenic Commisso had both goals for the Generals (10-14-4). Jeremy Brodeur stopped 25 shots.

Neither team scored on the power play. The Steelheads went 0 for 5, while Oshawa was 0 for 3.

FRONTENACS 4 STING 1

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jason Robertson had the eventual winner in the second period as Kingston skated past Sarnia.

Spencer Watson, Roland McKeown and Lawson Crouse rounded out the attack for the Frontenacs (16-8-2).

Zachary Core was the lone scorer for the Sting (13-10-2).

RANGERS 5 GREYHOUNDS 4

KITCHENER, Ont. — Adam Mascherin scored and added two assists to lift the Rangers over Sault Ste. Marie.

Darby Llewellyn, Jacob Cascagnette, Ryan MacInnis and David Miller rounded out the attack for Kitchener (20-3-3).

Bobby MacIntyre, Colton White, Keigan Goetz and Blake Speers supplied the offence for the Greyhounds (9-13-3).

BATTALION 6 FIREBIRDS 3

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Mathew Santos struck twice and added three assists to march the Battalion past Flint.

Mike Amadio scored twice for North Bay (12-10-2), while Max Kislinger and Brett McKenzie added goals as well.

Francesco Vilardi had back-to-back goals for the Firebirds (12-11-2). Will Bitten also scored.

KNIGHTS 5 SPITFIRES 3

WINDSOR, Ont. — Christian Dvorak had a pair of goals to lead London past the Spitfires.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Mitchell Marner, JJ Piccinich and Kole Sherwood rounded out the attack for the Knights (18-4-2).

Mikhail Sergachev scored twice for Windsor (16-8-3), with Patrick Sanvido adding one of his own.
