OHL: Spitfires hand Wolves 10th straight loss

WINDSOR, Ont. — Anthony Stefano scored twice and assisted on another as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Sudbury Wolves 4-1 on Thursday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Lucas Venuto had a goal and two assists for the Spitfires (18-22-1), while Trevor Murphy added the other.

David Zeppieri scored the lone goal for the Wolves (7-31-2), whose winless streak has reached 10 games.

Windsor’s Brendan Johnston made 22 saves for the win as Troy Timpano turned away 34-of-37 shots for Sudbury.

Both clubs went 0 for 4 on the power play.

COLTS 2 BATTALION 1 (SO)

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Andrew Mangiapane scored once in regulation and added the shootout winner as Barrie slipped past the Battalion.

Mackenzie Blackwood kicked out 35-of-36 shots for the Colts (25-13-2).

Brett McKenzie scored for North Bay (20-10-8) while Jake Smith 28 saves in defeat.

ATTACK 3 PETES 1

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Michael McNiven made 39 saves and Zach Nastasiuk had a goal and two assists as Owen Sound downed the Petes.

Erik Bradford and Damir Sharipzyanov also scored for the Attack (18-12-9).

Greg Betzhold replied for Peterborough (15-20-4) while Matthew Mancina turned aside 19-of-22 shots in a losing cause.

RANGERS 3 STING 2 (OT)

SARNIA, Ont. — Frank Hora scored the winner 1:38 into overtime as Kitchener edged the Sting.

Brandon Robinson and Darby Llewellyn also scored for the Rangers (17-14-8), who got a 25-save outing from Jake Paterson.

Pavel Zacha supplied the offence for Sarnia (21-15-5) as Taylor Dupuis stopped 26-of-29 shots for the loss.
