Game over.
For the better part of 60 minutes, Canada led Finland in the World Junior Hockey Championship quarterfinals. Then the final seconds happened. Then overtime. Then a penalty shot was missed, a Canadian stick broke, a Finnish stick didn’t, and just like that, Canada was eliminated.
It was shocking. Less shocking perhaps than Switzerland defeating Sweden, but each moment echoed through Twitter all the same.
As overtime approached, tensions mounted.
Then Canada got a penalty shot.
Then a stick broke.

Then Finland scored, with Canucks prospect Toni Utunen beating another Canucks prospect, Michael DiPietro, with a wristshot. In Vancouver, of course.

People handled the loss in decidedly different ways.
It brought out the worst of the internet.
And it revealed the good.
