WHL roundup: Point scores 4, Warriors top Raiders

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Brayden Point scored four times and added an assist as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Prince Albert Raiders 6-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Noah Gregor and Dryden Hunt also chipped in for Moose Jaw (10-5-3), which got 30 saves from Zach Sawchenko.

Brendan Guhle, Tim Vanstone, Sean Montgomery and Luke Coleman scored for the Raiders (12-5-2). Rylan Parenteau kicked out 25 shots in the loss.

The Warriors scored once on three power-play chances while Prince Albert was 0 for 4.

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Jon Martin had a goal and two assists to lead the Broncos over Brandon.

Tyler Steenbergen, Cole Johnson and Andreas Schumacher rounded out the attack for Swift Current (8-8-2), which got three assists from Glenn Gawdin.

Jayce Hawryluk scored a power-play goal early in the third period for the Wheat Kings (11-5-2).

SASKATOON — Cameron Hebig and Ryan Graham had a goal and an assist each as the Blades doubled up Red Deer.

Mason McCarty and Terrell Draude added the others for Saskatoon (8-7-3).

Evan Polei and Colton Bobyk found the back of the net for the Rebels (13-6-0).

ROYALS 6 PATS 1

REGINA — Tyler Thompson had two goals and an assist as Victoria dominated the Pats.

Jack Walker also scored twice for the Royals (14-5-1), with Matthew Phillips and Jared Dmytriw rounding out the attack.

Jared Freadrich tied the game 1-1 in the first period for Regina (7-8-1) before Victoria scored five straight.

Luc Smith of the Pats was ejected at 15:41 of the third period after a major penalty for cross checking.

HURRICANES 3 ICE 2

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Andrew Nielsen and Ryley Lindgren scored in the third period as the Hurricanes slipped past Kootenay.

Ryan Vandervlis opened the scoring for Lethbridge (12-5-0) in the second period.

Austin Wellsby, on a penalty shot, and Roman Dymacek had goals for the Ice (4-13-2).

EDMONTON — Brett Pollock’s power-play goal late in the third period stood as the winner as the Oil Kings edged Calgary for their third-straight win.

Lane Bauer and Kobe Mohr had the other goals for Edmonton (7-9-3).

Beck Malenstyn and Radel Fazleev scored for the Hitmen (9-10-1), who dropped their third in a row.

THUNDERBIRDS 5 TIGERS 2

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Keegan Kolesar struck twice as Seattle toppled the Tigers.

Ryan Gropp, Matthew Wedman and Ethan Bear supplied the rest of the offence for the Thunderbirds (10-6-1), who snapped a four-game losing skid.

Max Gerlach scored both goals for Medicine Hat (5-7-3).

Seattle’s Mathew Barzal was ejected at 11:27 of the second period after a major penalty for checking from behind.

EVERETT, Wash. — Patrick Bajkov had a goal and two assists as the Silvertips won their third straight by getting past Vancouver.

Matt Fonteyne and Graham Millar supplied the rest of the Everett (8-4-1) offence.

Ben Thomas struck twice for the Giants (4-10-3).

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Collin Shirley scored twice as the Blazers beat Prince George for their fifth win in a row.

Dawson Davidson, Patrik Maier and Matthew Campese also chipped in for Kamloops (8-8-0).

Jared Bethune and Kody McDonald had third-period goals for the Cougars (8-7-1).

PORTLAND, Ore. — Justin Kirkland had a pair of goals as Kelowna downed the Winterhawks for its fourth-straight win.

Kole Lind and Tyson Baillie had a goal and two assists each for the Rockets (13-5-0). Nick Merkley, Rodney Southam, Devante Stephens and Cole Linaker also scored.

Caleb Jones had a goal and two assists for Portland (7-9-0). Rihards Bukarts, Ryan Hughes, Brendan De Jong and Alex Schoenborn also chipped in.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Nik Andersen scored twice and added an assist as Spokane routed the Americans.

Parker Bowles found the back of the net for Tri-City (6-10-1).
