An Arizona Coyotes staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced on Saturday.
In a statement, the Coyotes say the staff member is “asymptomatic and feeling well.” The staff member is now in isolation at his home, according to the team, and all who have had close contact with the staff member have been notified.
All other Coyotes staff and players involved in the NHL’s Phase 2 testing protocol have tested negative for COVID-19.
The Coyotes will participate in the league’s 24-team return-to-play plan if the campaign is able to resume this summer.
To date, 10 NHL players have been confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus. The Boston Bruins confirmed a case earlier this week, while the Pittsburgh Penguins announced June 4 that one of their players had tested positive. That was the first announced case among NHL players since the Colorado Avalanche said April 7 that a third member of the team had returned a positive test result.
The other five players who tested positive are members of the Ottawa Senators.
