The Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes are the third- and second-worst teams in the NHL and they happened to play each other Thursday in what can be considered a Connor McDavid playoff game.
The game, played in Carolina, wasn’t exactly a popular affair. Barely anybody showed up to see it. Maybe you’ll be tempted to blame the low temperatures. It was below zero Celsius in the southern state today, after all. But, more likely, this is a result of two of the worst teams facing off.
The hometown Hurricanes won the game 5-2, but the real story in this one was the crowd, or lack thereof.
Maybe next year when the Hurricanes and Sabres face-off with McDavid and Jack Eichel in the lineup, the turnout will be a little bit higher. Here’s what McDavid did tonight:
