Blackhawks place Marian Hossa on injured reserve

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed Marian Hossa on injured reserve, the team announced Sunday.

Hossa, 37, left Saturday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks after a hip check from Hampus Lindholm sent him awkwardly into the boards. He needed to be helped off the ice and appeared to be favouring his left leg. He did not return.

The veteran winger has registered 10 goals and 18 assists in 54 games this season.

In the same transaction, the Blackhawks also announced the recalling of Vincent Hinostroza from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Hinostroza, 21, leads Rockford in points with 10 goals and 17 assists in 41 games. He has played four games with Chicago this season since making his NHL debut on Oct. 17.
