Coyotes’ Michael Grabner out indefinitely with gruesome eye injury

The Arizona Coyotes announced that forward Michael Grabner is out indefinitely after he suffered a gruesome eye injury on Saturday night.

The injury occurred in the first period of a 6-1 Coyotes in over the St. Louis Blues. Blues forward Sammy Blais caught Grabner in the face with his stick, forcing the 31-year-old to leave the game. Blais was given a double-minor penalty for high-sticking on the play.

On Sunday, Grabner posted a photo to his Instagram story showing off his injury. This is not for the faint of heart.

“At least the stache is intact,” Grabner wrote on the post. “#recoverytime.”

Grabner, 31, is in his first season with the Coyotes. In 25 games he has six goals, 11 points with six of those points coming while playing shorthanded.
