Flames’ Austin Czarnik leaves NHL bubble to attend to family matter

Calgary Flames forward Austin Czarnik has left the NHL bubble in Edmonton to attend to a family matter, the team announced Friday.

No further details on the nature of the family matter, or if Czarnik will return, have been made available by the team at this time.

If Czarnik were to return, the NHL’s protocol mandates that he would have to provide four consecutive negative COVID-19 tests carried out over four days. He would be quarantined over at least that time period, and possibly up to 14 days depending on risk of exposure while outside the bubble.

The 27-year-old appeared in eight regular-season games for the Flames this year, scoring twice and adding one assist.
