Flames in no rush to name their new captain

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames say they are not in any rush to name a new captain to replace Jarome Iginla.

Calgary’s captain since the 2003-04 season, Iginla was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins late Wednesday night.

Head coach Bob Hartley says he won’t name another captain before the off-season and leadership will fall to assistants Curtis Glencross, Jay Bouwmeester, Mike Cammalleri and Mark Giordano.

“From now on, we will go with a rotation of three assistants per game and I just told them I wanted to see them perform, to keep them putting their leadership out there every day whether it’s in the room or on the ice with younger players and they were all good with this,” Hartley was quoted on the Flames’ website Friday.
