With his goal in the opening period of Thursday’s matchup between the Winnipeg Jets and Chicago Blackhawks, star winger Patrik Laine became the fourth-youngest player in NHL history to score 100 career goals.
It only took Laine 179 games to accomplish the milestone, which translates to a 0.56 goals-per-game average thus far in his career.
The goal was also Laine’s 20th of the season, lifting the Finnish sniper into the league’s top goal-scoring spot and tying him with Ilya Kovalchuk as the fastest player in franchise history to reach the 20-goal mark.
After finding the back of the net again in the third period, Laine now has 13 goals in his past six games after scoring five two games ago against the St. Louis Blues.
His sizzling November also gave him an astounding 18 goals this month, making him only the seventh player since the 1989-90 season to accomplish that feat.
