Linus Sandin is hoping to join his younger brother Rasmus in the NHL next season, Sportsnet has learned.
The 23-year-old forward intends to sign an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, according to sources, although he’s not yet done so with the NHL still finalizing new transfer agreements with the international federations.
Sandin is coming off a strong season for HV71, where he finished third among Swedish Hockey League players with 19 goals, and drew offers from two other NHL clubs.
He is nearly four years older than brother Rasmus, the Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman who made his debut as a teenager this season.
Sandin was never drafted by an NHL team and has progressed steadily through the ranks in Sweden. He continues to train back home with HV71 amid the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, but expects to join the Flyers organization whenever hockey is played
next season.
