Maple Leafs loan goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to Marlies

The Toronto Maple Leafs have loaned goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, the team announced Sunday morning.

The Finn served as Michael Hutchinson’s backup for the team’s game against the Vancouver Canucks Saturday. The 25-year-old has bounced back and forth between the Marlies and Maple Leafs lately to address the parent club’s need for an emergency backup given the absences of Frederik Andersen (groin) and Garret Sparks (concussion).

Kaskisuo wasn’t called on to make his NHL debut during his brief Maple Leafs stint, with the organization electing to start Hutchinson in consecutive games on Jan. 3 and Jan. 5. Hutchinson showed he was up to the task on Saturday, recording a shutout to earn his first win with the blue and white.

Kaskisuo has appeared in 12 games for the Marlies this season, playing to a 4-5 record with a 3.82 GAA.
