McDavid, MacKinnon, Kane named NHL’s three stars for November

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, the Colorado Avalanche‘s Nathan MacKinnon and Chicago BlackhawksPatrick Kane have been named the NHL’s three stars for the month of November. The Avalanche’s Cale Makar was named rookie of the month.

McDavid led all skaters with 13 goals and 26 points in November and found the scoresheet in all but two of the Oilers’ 14 games. His month was highlighted by two hat tricks, including one in a six point performance against the Avalanche on Nov. 14. McDavid also crossed the 400 point milestone in November, becoming the 13th fastest player in NHL history to hit the mark after doing it in only 306 games.

MacKinnon’s 25 points in November were second only to McDavid but he did it without his two normal wingers — Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog — for most of the month. MacKinnon had three four-point games in November and led all skaters with 79 shots. He also closed the month on a seven-game point streak that he will look to extend Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kane hit the scoresheet in all 15 of his games in November and finished the month with 10 goals and 25 points. That included a six game goal streak from Nov. 7-17 and six multi-point performances. His current 15 game point streak is the longest in the NHL this season and third longest in his career.

Makar led all rookies in goals (seven), points (16) and with a plus-10 rating despite being a defenceman. He is only the fifth rookie defenceman to ever score at least seven goals in one month and first since Brian Leetch in January of 1989. His three game-winning goals in November were the most in one month by a rookie defenceman in NHL history.
