NHL announces Los Angeles as host of 2017 All-Star game

At NHL commissioner Gary Bettman’s state-of-the-game press conference Saturday, the league announced that the Los Angeles Kings will host the 2017 All-Star game.

The event will mark the 50th anniversary of the Kings’ franchise. They were one of the first six expansion teams to join the NHL in 1967.

Los Angeles has twice hosted the All-Star event, once in 1981 at the Great Western Forum and again in 2002 at the Staples Center where they currently play.
