The NHL and the NHL Officials Association are in the process of negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement, according to Sportsnet’s John Shannon.
The current CBA between the league and its officials — a four-year deal agreed to on Oct. 4, 2010 — is set to expire this fall. That deal came to fruition just three days prior to the start of the 2010-11 season after the referees and linesmen worked the pre-season without a contract.
Once a new CBA is agreed upon, it has to be approved by the NHL’s Board of Governors as well as the NHLOA.
