The Pittsburgh Penguins can close out their series with the Washington Capitals at home Monday in Game 6, but they’ll have to do so without Trevor Daley.
Head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters following his team’s morning skate the veteran defenceman is considered day-to-day.
Daley suffered an undisclosed lower-body injury after being on the receiving end of a Tom Wilson hit Saturday in Pittsburgh’s 4-2 loss in Game 5. The 32-year-old has just one point in 10 playoff games this year, but has been a steady presence in his own end averaging 18:27 of ice-time per game.
Chad Ruhwedel took Daley’s spot beside Olli Maatta at the Penguins’ skate, while Ian Cole was with his usual partner Justin Schultz. Ron Hainsey was paired with Mark Streit instead of Brian Dumoulin. Sullivan explained Dumoulin took a maintenance day but will be good to go Monday night.
