Rangers recall 2017 first-rounders Lias Andersson, Filip Chytil

The New York Rangers have recalled 2017 first-round picks Lias Andersson and Filip Chytil from AHL Hartford.

Andersson, 19, was drafted seventh-overall in 2017 with a draft pick acquired from the Arizona Coyotes. A centre, he began the season with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League but joined Hartford in January.

In 22 SHL games, Andersson registered seven goals and 14 points. He then picked up five goals and 14 points in 24 AHL games.

Andersson was captain of the silver-medal winning Team Sweden at the 2018 World Junior Championship, where he registered six goals and one assist.

Chytil, 18, was selected by the Rangers with the 21st pick in last June’s draft. He has spent the entire season with Hartford, where he’s registered 11 goals and 31 points in 45 games. Chytil has appeared in two games with the Rangers already this season, but has yet to pick up a point.

Chytil represented the Czech Republic at the World Junior Championships, where he had two goals and two assists.
