Report: Islanders’ Okposo has detached retina

The undisclosed upper-body injury New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo is dealing with is a detached retina, according to ESPN’s Katie Strang.

Last week, the Islanders announced Okposo would miss six to eight weeks, but didn’t go into specifics about the injury.

In 46 games this season, the 26-year-old St. Paul, Minn., native has 14 goals, 30 assists and was on a hot streak with seven points in his last three games.

The Islanders host the Florida Panthers Tuesday and currently sit one point ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins for first place in the Metropolitan Division.
