Report: Panthers offer Quenneville multi-year contract

After firing head coach Bob Boughner earlier today, the Florida Panthers and Joel Quenneville could be much further along than many realized, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported.

Now, according to ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski, the Panthers have offered Quenneville a multi-year contract that would pay him over $6 million annually after bonuses.

Further terms of the alleged offer have not been reported.

Prior to being fired by the Chicago Blackhawks earlier this season, Quenneville was the longest-tenured coach in the NHL. He has compiled 890 wins throughout his coaching career, the second-most in NHL history, trailing just Scotty Bowman’s 1,244.
