The Ottawa Senators have placed goaltender Andrew Hammond on waivers.
Hammond has been the odd man out in the Ottawa crease ever since the team acquired Mike Condon from Pittsburgh.
With Craig Anderson rejoining the team for Saturday’s game against Florida, the Senators had hoped Hammond would be willing to accept a conditioning stint in Binghamton, but the netminder refused.
“The Hamburglar” burst onto the scene in the 2014-15 season, winning 20 games in just 24 appearances, with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage to lead the Senators into the playoffs.
He signed a three-year, $4.05-million contract in the ensuing off-season.
The 28-year-old has started just two games this year.
