If you’re going to be eliminated in the Stanley Cup Final, this is up there among the worst ways to lose.
The Nashville Predators were essentially robbed of a goal in the second period that would have given them a 1-0 lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins during Sunday night’s Game 6 of the Final.
The missed call proved crucial as the Penguins scored two late goals to secure a 2-0 victory and clinch the Stanley Cup for a second straight year.
At the 18:52 mark of the second, Penguins goalie Matt Murray was unable to fully corral a loose puck that was then tapped in by Predators winger Colton Sissons. However, the play was already ruled dead before the puck passed the red line due to a whistle by referee Kevin Pollock. Thus, no goal.
