Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card. Just ask the Winnipeg Public Library, which has been on fire this post-season.
While the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets wage war on the ice, there’s another battle brewing — in the books.
The exchange started when the Winnipeg Public Library lobbed a literary jab at Vegas ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference Final, and Vegas was more than happy to clap back.
We're ready for you, @wpglibrary! In fact, we've placed a book on hold for your @NHLJets #VegasBorn #BoldInGold @GoldenKnights https://t.co/7WmUyeO3OD pic.twitter.com/tts35ReSzO

Thanks for the recommended reading @LVCCD but we're good. Kinda been at this hockey thing for a while. ;) To be honest, it's your @GoldenKnights we think of as being in training. Our @NHLJets got talent++! #WPGWhiteout #goJetsgo pic.twitter.com/7ZQ77lumxf

The (really very pleasant) war of words continued ahead of Game 2, with the Jets up 1-0 in the series and looking to stir up a well-worded response from their opponents on the strip.
Game 1 sure was sweet @LVCCLD. Get ready for another high impact @NHLJets #WPGWhiteout ! #goJetsgo #WPGvsVGK pic.twitter.com/fgNo3tAir1

We're glad you enjoyed that @NHLJets win, @wpglibrary! It could be your last one… #VegasBorn @goldenknights @SinBinVegas @mayoroflasvegas @TMobileArena pic.twitter.com/jJ7FJqQaN8

Vegas, of course, was more than happy to restart the conversation after that.
Quietly preparing @LVCCLD! But do you hear that? A tempête (storm) is brewing & the @NHLJets are bringing the vents contraires (headwinds as we say in Canada). You may have won the 2nd game but we've been at this for a while, we can take the Vegas heat! #WPGWhiteout #goJetsgo pic.twitter.com/5aO6jPbKiS

Even Edmonton’s library system has gotten involved.
Winnipeg, meanwhile, isn’t about to give up. (Also, a public service announcement: Don’t forget, you can also rent movies at your local library.)
Hey @LVCCLD just a quick note in case you’re getting any ideas that our @NHLJets aren’t primed for a comeback. #wegotthis #goJetsgo #WPGWhiteout #WPGvsVGK pic.twitter.com/4skEtJ5b4w

Always good to hear from you, @wpglibrary!
Who doesn't love a good comeback story? Your @NHLJets must have watched this one a few times ☺️ @GoldenKnights #VegasBorn #GoKnightsGo pic.twitter.com/uBBhwN99XB— LVCCLD (@LVCCLD) May 17, 2018
If you'd done your, ahem… research, you'd know that the *original* Goon (2011) was filmed in our fair city. :) See you tomorrow when it's back to our regularly scheduled book spine showdown! #libraryskills #theoriginals #goJetsgo #WPGWhiteout https://t.co/iSHy3xDAPL pic.twitter.com/GdeeBGi99n

Looks like Winnipeg may have taken a page out of Kansas City’s book. If you recall, the Kansas City Public Library chirped Toronto during the 2015 ALCS between the Blue Jays and Royals:
(Honestly, we were… ahem, long overdue… for another exchange like this.)
But back to hockey: The book battle hasn’t just been limited to the Western Conference Final, as Winnipeg also made sure to chirp both Minnesota and Nashville during Rounds 1 and 2:
As for this Conference Final feud, Game 4 is set for Friday night in Vegas with the Golden Knights (and their librarians) looking to put the Jets on the brink of elimination.
