Winnipeg, Vegas libraries wage war of words on Twitter

Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card. Just ask the Winnipeg Public Library, which has been on fire this post-season.

While the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets wage war on the ice, there’s another battle brewing — in the books.

The exchange started when the Winnipeg Public Library lobbed a literary jab at Vegas ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference Final, and Vegas was more than happy to clap back.

The (really very pleasant) war of words continued ahead of Game 2, with the Jets up 1-0 in the series and looking to stir up a well-worded response from their opponents on the strip.

Vegas, of course, was more than happy to restart the conversation after that.

Even Edmonton’s library system has gotten involved.

Winnipeg, meanwhile, isn’t about to give up. (Also, a public service announcement: Don’t forget, you can also rent movies at your local library.)

Looks like Winnipeg may have taken a page out of Kansas City’s book. If you recall, the Kansas City Public Library chirped Toronto during the 2015 ALCS between the Blue Jays and Royals:

(Honestly, we were… ahem, long overdue… for another exchange like this.)

But back to hockey: The book battle hasn’t just been limited to the Western Conference Final, as Winnipeg also made sure to chirp both Minnesota and Nashville during Rounds 1 and 2:

As for this Conference Final feud, Game 4 is set for Friday night in Vegas with the Golden Knights (and their librarians) looking to put the Jets on the brink of elimination.
