Astros star Jose Altuve set to return after battling thumb injury

Houston Astros star player Jose Altuve is ready for a comeback after being sidelined for almost two months due to a thumb injury. Fresh off the surgery, he will return to the lineup for Astros’ game against Oakland Athletics on Friday night.

The 33-year-old second baseman sustained the injury during a game between Venezuela and the United States in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic in March.

This will be Altuve’s first game of the season. His return is good news for the Astros, who are on a four-game winning streak. They are 24-19 and in second place in the American League West standings, trailing behind the Texas Rangers.

Before his return, Altuve played five games in the minor league in six days. He went 1-13 with the Sugar Land Cowboys and 1-9 with the Corpus Christi Hooks.
