Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association announced Friday that there have been no new positive COVID-19 tests among players over the past week.
Of the 11,669 samples collected and tested through the end of Sept. 10, there was one new positive and that was a staff member. MLB and MLBPA say there have been no new positive tests among players for 12 consecutive days and none in 20 of the last 21 days.
In total, according to MLB, 115,337 samples have been collected and tested throughout the 2020 season with 86 of them, or 0.07 per cent, being new positives – 55 players and 31 staff members.
MLB has postponed more than 40 games due to positive COVID-19 tests since the season got underway in late July, with the last postponements being a series between the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics earlier this month.
