Los Angeles Dodgers star Cody Bellinger underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the right shoulder he dislocated during a home run celebration in Game 7 of the NLCS, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The 2019 NL MVP is expected to be sidelined 10 weeks, putting him on track to return by spring training.
Bellinger, 25, sustained the injury while smashing forearms with teammate Kike Hernandez near the dugout as they celebrated his game-winning solo blast that broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning of Game 7 against the Atlanta Braves. Bellinger had previously dislocated the same shoulder in 2018 and 2019.
Despite the injury, Bellinger hit a home run in the World Series opener two days later and finished the post-season batting .212 with four home runs and 13 RBI.
