Report: McNeil, Mets agree to four-year, $50M contract extension to avoid arbitration

Two-time MLB All Star Jeff McNeil has agreed to a four-year, $50 million contract extension with the New York Mets, avoiding arbitration, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The deal reportedly includes a fifth year option that would bring the contract value to $63.75 million.

The 30-year-old utility player had a bounce back season in 2022, winning his first Silver Slugger Award and the MLB Batting Title. McNeil’s batting average improved to .326 from .251 in 2021, earning nine home runs and 62 runs batted in.

The extension is pending a physical.
