RHP Mitch White will make first start for Blue Jays on Saturday vs. Twins

Newly acquired right-hander Mitch White will make his debut for the Toronto Blue Jays when he starts Saturday against the Minnesota Twins.

Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker confirmed the news prior to Friday’s contest in Minnesota.

The Blue Jays acquired White in a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday just prior to the MLB trade deadline.

The 27-year-old White is 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA in 15 games (10 starts) for the Dodgers this year.

The Blue Jays needed a starter for Saturday after Ross Stripling was placed on the 15-day injured list with a glute/hip strain earlier this week.

White hasn’t pitched since July 26 when he gave up two runs on nine hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Washington Nationals.
