Just four days after Bo Bichette was placed on the 10-day injured list, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided a hopeful update on the all-star shortstop.
Speaking ahead of the series against the Colorado Rockies on Friday, Schneider told reporters that Bichette had spent time running, hitting and fielding ground balls. Schneider is hopeful that the 25-year-old will be able to return to the roster within the minimum 10 days.
Bichette was placed on the 10-day IL retroactive to Aug. 28 with a right quad strain.
“We’re hoping for a short stint,” Schneider said after the injury. “The sooner we can get him back, obviously the better for us, while keeping the players’ best interest in mind too.”
Bichette leads the Blue Jays with a .314 batting average and 152 hits. He’s also second on the club with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs.
