NBA fines Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell $25k for ‘verbally abusing’ official

The NBA handed out a $25,000 fine to Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell for “verbally abusing a game official,” the league announced on Saturday.

The fine stems from Russell’s actions after his team was eliminated from the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 on April 29.

The Lakers’ season came to an end Monday in a 108-106 loss in Denver, which won the series 4-1. Los Angeles fired coach Darvin Ham on Friday after two seasons.
