Toronto Raptors owner and governor Larry Tanenbaum has been unanimously re-elected as the chairman of the NBA Board of Governors.
Tanenbaum has been the chairman of the board since 2017 becoming the first Canadian to earn the role.
“I am delighted that Larry will continue serving the league as our Chairman of the Board,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver wrote in a statement. “His leadership, guidance, and support are greatly appreciated by me and my colleagues as well as the other team governors.”
Tanenbaum has been governor of the Raptors since buying the team in 1998. He also serves in the same role for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto FC.
Before being named chairman, Tanenbaum has served on different NBA committees including the Advisory/Finance Committee from 2008 to 2017 and the Planning Committee from 2000 to 2014.
