Report: Atlanta Hawks promote Landry Fields to general manager

The Atlanta Hawks are promoting Landry Fields from assistant general manager to general manager beginning on July 1, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Monday.

Fields spent five years in the NBA, playing for the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors, but retired in 2016 following an injury. He joined the San Antonio Spurs’ front office as a college scout ahead of the 2016-2017 season.

Fields was originally hired as assistant general manager by the Hawks in 2020. In his new role, he will continue to promote up to Hawks president of basketball operations Travis Schlenk.

The Hawks finished the 2021-22 season with a 43-39 record and got into the playoffs through the play-in round but ultimately well to the Heat in five games in Round 1.
