The Los Angeles Lakers continued a busy off-season by reportedly reaching contract agreements with restricted free agent Talen Horton-Tucker and free agent Kendrick Nunn.
ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Horton-Tucker has agreed to a three-year, $36-million contract. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Nunn’s contract is for two years and worth $10 million.
Horton-Tucker, 20, was acquired in a 2019 draft-day trade after being a second-round pick by the Charlotte Hornets. A six-foot-four shooting guard, Horton-Tucker became a full-time NBA player last season, appearing in 65 games — including four starts. He averaged nine points on 45 per cent shooting, including 28 per cent from three.
Nunn, 26, joins the Lakers after two seasons with the Miami Heat. A six-foot-two point guard, Nunn averaged 14.2 points and 2.6 assists in 56 games last season — including 44 starts. He was a rookie on the Heat team that lost to the Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals.
The moves secure some younger talent for a Lakers team that has been building a core of experienced veterans around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The team’s reported additions this summer include Russell Westbrook — via a trade with the Washington Wizards — as well as Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington and Kent Bazemore.
