Report: Raptors sign forward Jontay Porter to two-way contract

In an effort to replenish their depth, the Raptors have signed forward/centre Jontay Porter to a two-way contract according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The move comes after the Raptors waived wing Ron Harper Jr. earlier on Friday after he elected to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

Porter, 24, has been spending the year playing with the Pistons’ G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise. He has averaged 16.8 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 45.6 per cent from the field and 27.3 per cent from deep.

He spent last G League season with the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate, and averaged 13.5 points and 8.4 rebounds while putting up much better numbers from three-point range as he knocked down 41.1 per cent of his 6.0 shots a game.

His only NBA action came in the 2020-21 season with the Memphis Grizzlies as he averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11 games.

The brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., he also spent his college career playing for the Missouri Tigers after being scouted as a top recruit in high school. The six-foot-ten forward was named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2018.
