The Boston Celtics‘ Robert Williams III spoke to the media on Friday, saying that he’s day-to-day and could make his return while the team is on their West Coast road trip according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick.
The Celtics are set to take on the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Friday, a rematch of the NBA Finals. They’re in the middle of a West coast road trip, with games on Monday and Tuesday against the Clippers and Lakers respectively.
Williams has yet to appear in a game this season after taking the time to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery after the NBA Finals.
He tore his meniscus near the end of the 2021-22 season and underwent an initial partial meniscectomy to return during the first round of the playoffs against the Brooklyn Nets.
On Sept. 23, the Celtics announced that he would be undergoing arthroscopic surgery to “remove loose bodies and address swelling.”
The fifth-year big had a breakout campaign last season, earning Defensive Player of the Year votes and was a Second-Team All-Defence selection, the first nomination of his career. He averaged 10.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game.
He would rejoin a Celtics team with already the best record in the NBA at 21-5.
