Reports: NBA preparing contingencies in case of Christmas Day postponements

The NBA has informed teams playing on Christmas Day that it is preparing contingencies in case games need to be postponed, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski adds that the participating teams have been told to prepare for game times to shift as late as Dec. 24 in order fill priority broadcasting windows.

NBA Christmas Day, an annual marquee event for the league, features five key matchups staggered throughout the day. The 2021 Christmas Day is currently scheduled as follows:

• Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks — 12 p.m. ET
• Boston Celtics at Milwaukee Bucks — 2:30 p.m. ET (Sportsnet)
• Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns — 5 p.m. ET (Sportsnet)
• Brooklyn Nets at Los Angeles Lakers — 8 p.m. ET
• Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz — 10:30 p.m. ET
