Chiefs’ Kadarius Toney completes longest punt return in Super Bowl history

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney made the record books Sunday after completing the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.

Toney’s 65-yard return during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl LVII broke the record set by Denver Broncos’ Jordan Norwood, who had a 61-yard punt return during Super Bowl 50 in 2016.

The 24-year-old Toney, who had caught a touchdown pass earlier in the quarter that gave Kansas City the lead, was finally tackled at the five-yard line.

Skyy Moore then caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes and Harrison Butker kicked the extra point to extend Kansas City’s lead to 35-27 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs acquired Toney in a trade with the New York Giants who parted ways with their round-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft for a third-and second-round pick.
