NFL 2023 Draft Reaction: A tweet for every first-round pick

Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft is officially in the books, with 31 new NFLers welcomed into the league Thursday night.

The evening started with a splash of drama thanks to the Houston Texans, who after selecting C.J. Stroud second overall traded into the third spot to grab the best defensive prospect on the board in Will Anderson. That was far from the only draft night trade — teams took turns trading up and down the draft order all night, while others waited patiently and lucked into some high-value picks.

1. Carolina Panthers (from Chicago): Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

*Houston acquired the third overall pick and pick No. 105 from Arizona in exchange for picks 12 and 33 in 2023 and a first- and third-round pick in 2024

4. Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

5. Seattle Seahawks (from Denver): Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

6. Detroit Lions (from L.A. Rams) Arizona Cardinals: Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State

*After trading out of the third overall pick with Houston, the Cardinals jump back into the top 10. Arizona sends the 12th, 34th, and 168th overall picks to Detroit for the sixth pick and 81st pick.

7. Las Vegas Raiders: Tyree Wilson, Edge, Texas Tech

8. Atlanta Falcons: Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas

9. Chicago Bears (from Panthers) Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia

*The Eagles swapped picks with the Bears, also sending a fourth-rounder to Chicago.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (from Saints) Chicago Bears: Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

After trading back from 24, Jacksonville trades back again. The Bills leapfrog Dallas in exchange for picks 27 and 130.
