After being picked first overall in the 2023 WHL Draft, Daxon Rudolph has become a top-10 selection in the NHL Draft three years later.
The Prince Albert Raiders defenceman went fourth overall to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. He was the first defenceman selected.
The six-foot-two Rudolph tied for the WHL playoff scoring lead with 27 points in 19 games last season, leading the Raiders to the league final.
The native of Labombe, Alta. was third among all defencemen in the regular season with 78 points in 68 games.
Rudolph has played for Canada’s under-18 team at the world championship and Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
He is committed to the University of Denver next season.
