Bruins’ Kevin Shattenkirk fined for unsportsmanlike conduct vs. Penguins

Boston Bruins defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk has been fined the maximum allowable under the CBA for unsportsmanlike conduct against Pittsburgh Penguins forward Michael Bunting during Saturday night’s game.

The NHL’s department of player safety announced the $2,734.38 fine Sunday morning.

While it’s unclear exactly what Shattenkirk did, the department’s announcement said that the incident occurred at 19:37 of the first period.

At that time in the game, Bunting chased a puck down into the Bruins’ end before colliding with Linus Ullmark, sending the Boston goalie to the ice.

Bunting then skated back to the bench and appeared to turn back toward the Bruins bench after passing by. Shettenkirk wasn’t on the ice at the time for Boston.

Shattenkirk and Bunting both scored in the second period, but the Bruins would go on to win the game 6-4.
