The Boston Bruins announced Monday they have acquired defenceman Reilly Walsh from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for centre Shane Bowers.
Walsh registered 41 points (nine goals and 32 assists) in 71 games with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League this past season.
The 24-year-old from Framingham, Mass., was drafted in the third round, 81st overall, by the Devils in 2017. He has played one NHL game with the Devils during the 2021-22 season.
Bowers split last season between the Colorado Avalanche and the Bruins franchises after he was traded to Boston on Feb. 25 for goaltender Keith Kinkaid. The 23-year-old from Halifax, who appeared in one game with the Avalanche, had 14 points (four goals and 10 assists) in 37 games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles and seven points (four goals and three assists) in 20 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins.
He was drafted in the first round, 28th overall, by the Ottawa Senators in 2017 and was dealt later that year to Colorado as part of the Matt Duchene trade.
