The Montreal Canadiens have loaned defencemen Jayden Struble, Logan Mailloux and Justin Barron, as well as forward Joshua Roy, to the AHL’s Laval Rocket.
The moves, announced Wednesday, follow the conclusion of the Canadiens’ 2023-24 season on Tuesday.
Struble, 22, had 10 points in 56 games with the Canadiens, Roy, 20, had nine points in 23 games and Barron, 22, had 13 points in 48 games.
Mailloux, 21, made his NHL debut Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings after being recalled Monday for the season finale.
The Rockets have two games remaining in their regular season, both against the Belleville Senators. Laval sits sixth in the AHL’s North Division, trailing Belleville by two points for the final playoff spot.
The four young Canadiens will join Luke Tuch in Laval, who signed a two-year, entry-level deal with the organization Tuesday. Because the deal begins next season, Tuch signed a one-way contract with the Laval Rocket to finish out the year in the AHL.
Meanwhile, Lane Hutson, another recent signing for the Canadiens, is ineligible to be sent down to the AHL this season as the first year of his contract counted toward the 2023-24 campaign. The 20-year-old appeared in the Canadiens’ final two games.
