Flames’ Pospisil exits game vs. Maple Leafs with upper-body injury

Calgary Flames rookie forward Martin Pospisil was forced to leave Thursday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs with an upper-body injury after an awkward fall into the boards in the first period.

Pospisil had his skate get tied up with Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews before falling head-first into the corner boards. The youngster was able to get to his feet, but needed to be helped off the ice and headed straight to the locker room.

He did not rejoin his team for the start of the second period and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The 24-year-old forward has been one of the bright spots for the team this season. Coming into Thursday’s game Pospisil had four goals and seven assists in 32 games in his first season with the big club.

Posipisil has spent the majority of the season on a line with fellow rookie Connor Zary and veteran forward Nazem Kadri.
