Jets’ Vilardi to miss third straight game with upper-body injury, Schmidt out with flu

Winnipeg Jets forward Gabriel Vilardi will miss his third straight game on Tuesday as he deals with an upper-body injury, according to head coach Rick Bowness.

While he’ll be out against the Seattle Kraken, Bowness said that Vilardi will be with the team for their upcoming two-game road trip that sees them travel to Seattle and then Vancouver.

The 24-year-old suffered the upper-body injury in Thursday’s 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars. He has not skated with the group or on his own since.

Acquired by the Jets in the off-season, Vilardi has 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points in 38 games.

Also out Tuesday for Winnipeg is defenceman Nate Schmidt. According to Bowness, the 32-year-old is battling the flu. He will be replaced in the lineup by Logan Stanley.
